Careers

Three roles, bands published, no take-home longer than four hours.

Open roles

  • Founding Engineer, Detection

    Location
San Francisco or remote (US time zones)
    Type
    Full time
    Band
    $190,000 – $240,000 + 0.5% – 1.2% equity

Own the part of Docsmith that is not a language model: the graph that connects a symbol in a repository to the paragraph that documents it. Static analysis across TypeScript, Go, Python and Rust, and the retrieval layer built on top of it.

    We are looking for

    • You have written a real static analyser or language server, not just used one
    • You are comfortable being the person who says a heuristic is not good enough yet
    • You want to work on precision, where a false positive costs a user's trust
  • Evaluation Engineer

    Location
San Francisco or remote (US time zones)
    Type
    Full time
    Band
    $170,000 – $210,000 + 0.3% – 0.7% equity

Grow and defend the evaluation set. Every prompt, routing and model change is scored against a frozen corpus of real repository changes before it ships. You own that corpus, the harness and the number we publish.

    We are looking for

    • You have built evaluation for a model-backed product in production
    • You are unmoved by a benchmark that does not resemble the real input distribution
    • You will argue against shipping a change that looks better and measures worse
  • Developer Experience Engineer

    Location
Remote (US or EU time zones)
    Type
    Full time
    Band
    $150,000 – $185,000 + 0.2% – 0.5% equity

Own the CLI, the GitHub app and the documentation for a documentation product, which is a uniquely unforgiving assignment. You will be the first person to notice when the product is wrong about itself.

    We are looking for

    • You write well and enjoy it
    • You have shipped a CLI that people liked using
    • You would rather fix the confusing thing than document it

The process

Four conversations, two weeks

  1. 01

    Intro, 30 minutes

With Priya or Daniel. What you have built, what you want to own, and whether the problem is interesting to you.

  2. 02

    Technical conversation, 60 minutes

A real problem from our backlog, discussed. No whiteboard algorithms and no trick questions.

  3. 03

    Paid work session, 4 hours

A scoped piece of work, paid at $200 an hour, done at a time that suits you. You keep the code either way.

  4. 04

    Team conversations, 90 minutes

Two people you would work with daily. This is two-way — ask them anything, including what is annoying here.

We give a decision within three working days of the last conversation, and we tell you why either way. Nobody is left waiting on a “we will circle back”.

What we offer

  • Fully covered medical, dental and vision for you and your dependents
  • Four weeks of paid time off, and we track that you take it
  • $3,000 a year for hardware and whatever software makes you faster
  • Twelve weeks of parental leave at full pay, for any parent
  • 401(k) with a 4% match, vested immediately
  • Two company weeks a year in San Francisco, travel covered

Equity is in options with a ten-year exercise window, so leaving does not force you to buy. Bands are the same regardless of where you live.

Apply

No cover letter

Tell us what you have built that you are proud of and why the problem interested you. A link is worth more than a paragraph. We read every application and reply within a week, either way.

If none of the three roles fit but you think you should be here, pick the closest one and say so in the message.

A person reads this. Replies come within one business day.

We never sell or share what you send.
