Roadmap

What is coming, and roughly when.

Dates are intentions, not commitments, and things move. What we will not do is list something here that we have no plan to build.

Q3 2026

  • Screenshot staleness

Detect when a UI change invalidates a screenshot in the docs, and mark the image rather than the prose.

  • Ownership routing

Route a draft to the person who last edited that page, or to a CODEOWNERS entry, instead of a shared queue.

Next

Q4 2026

  • OpenAPI drift

Compare a committed OpenAPI document against the handwritten reference pages that describe the same endpoints.

  • Translations

When an English page is redrafted, mark its translations stale and draft the corresponding change.

  • Editor extension

Show staleness inline in VS Code while you are editing the code that caused it.

Later

2027

  • Self-hosted control plane

Run the whole product inside your network, not just the model calls. Design partners only at first.

  • Docs coverage

The inverse problem: which public API surface has no documentation at all.

Not planned

  • Writing documentation from scratch

Generating a page that nobody has written is a different product with a different failure mode. Docsmith maintains what exists.

  • A hosted documentation site

There are several good ones. We would rather work with all of them than compete with them.

  • Auto-merging drafts

Repeatedly requested and repeatedly declined. The moment Docsmith can merge, every finding becomes a risk rather than a suggestion.

  • A chat interface over your docs

A crowded space, and not the problem we set out to solve.

Think one of these is wrong? Tell us why — the roadmap has been changed by customer arguments twice.
